Good Conduct Certificate

The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai has introduced a new rule pertaining to the employment/residency visa applications and the compulsory provision of a Good Conduct Certificate.

For those who already have an issued employment/residency visa – please do not worry! This new rule and change in regulation is not applicable to you. Please note that it is also not required to submit a Good Conduct Certificate for visa renewal.

For new employment/residency visa applications, the following rules and regulations are applicable since the 15th of February 2018:

  • Persons already inside the UAE on a visit visa or tourist visa on arrival while applying for their employment/residency visa, should provide a Good Conduct Certificate issued in their home country, attested by the UAE Embassy or Consulate and attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dubai.
  • Persons outside the UAE at the time of applying for their employment/residency visa, should provide a Good Conduct Certificate issued in the country where he/she has been residing for the past 5 years, attested by the UAE Embassy or Consulate and attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dubai.
  • Persons who are already in the UAE and who want to transfer their existing residence visa, need to provide a Good Conduct Certificate issued by the Dubai police or Ministry of Interior.
  • Please note: The Good Conduct Certificate must be issued in English or Arabic.
